The ninth annual international IE University conference on ‘Reinventing Higher Education’ was held on 5-6 March at Madrid-based IE University, which is a private non-profit business owned by the Instituto de Empresa SL in Spain. University World News reports.
‘Open educational resources’ are the focus of a growing field of inquiry, particularly in the Global South where, up until now, research has been relatively limited and isolated. Now, a new book based on three years of research across 21 countries and three regions in the Global South offers the first comprehensive analysis of the uses and impact of open educational resources, which have the potential not only to reduce educational costs, but to enhance the quality of educational materials.

University World News was a media partner of the New Nationalism and Universities international conference held at the University of California, Berkeley, in the United States to celebrate the 60th anniversary of its Center for Studies in Higher Education. Alumni and leading scholars from around the world discussed rising nationalism and populism in its many forms, and the impact on the missions and activities of universities. This is the first of two special reports on the conference.
The Open Doors® Report on International Educational Exchange, charting international students in the United States and American study abroad, was published on 13 November by the Institute of International Education and the US Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
