ABOUT US
Our mission is to provide high-quality news and analysisUniversity World News is an online global higher education publication, which provides in-depth, independent news and commentary on higher education and research worldwide, both North and South. University World News is published by Higher Education Web Publishing Ltd, a limited company set up 15 years ago by a group of higher education specialist editors and international correspondents based around the world with a mission to become a truly international source of high-quality reporting and analysis from all continents using reporters on the ground. Uniquely, it includes an Africa edition, produced independently by a non-profit sister company, University World News – Africa, based in South Africa, with its own board. It also has an Asia hub. University World News is an open-source website attracting 1.5 million unique visitors and 4.7 million page views per year and is pitched at university leaders, senior academics, academics, students, administrators and policy-makers. It supports key values held by universities including academic freedom and autonomy; the promotion of diversity, equity and inclusion; internationalism; and the commitment of higher education and research to transforming society. One of its latest developments is the inclusion of an SDGs hub, to provide news and commentary on universities’ contribution to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and share best practice. University World News is a vehicle for the sharing of news and analysis on key challenges and reforms in higher education internationally and offers opportunities for universities, university associations and conference organisers to promote their work through its website, social media channels, cross-promotional partnerships and through emailed newsletters for its Global and Africa editions.
