Authorities probe university postgraduate degree scandal

Judicial authorities in Morocco continue to probe a major academic corruption case involving a university professor accused of manipulating postgraduate degrees in exchange for large sums of money, reports Hespress EN.

The scandal centres around a law professor at Ibn Zohr University in Agadir, who has been placed in pre-trial detention at Oudaya prison in Marrakech by order of the investigating judge.

The case has triggered shockwaves in academic and legal circles, particularly among individuals – lawyers and affluent citizens among them – who obtained advanced degrees under the professor’s supervision. Preliminary investigations have revealed that beneficiaries include lawyers from Agadir and Béni Mellal, as well as a member of a wealthy family in the town of Imintanoute.
