Attack at law school career event raises safety concerns
A violent incident during a student-organised ‘Career Days’ event at the Athens University Law School on Wednesday evening, 30 April, has raised serious concerns about safety and security within Greek university campuses, reports Tovima.com.According to reports, shortly before 8pm, a group of five hooded individuals forcibly entered the first floor of the law school building and launched a violent assault in front of students and faculty members. The attack occurred during a break in the event, which featured multiple guest speakers and was intended to support students’ professional development. Eyewitnesses described the incident as a sudden and coordinated raid. A graduate student was seriously injured and removed to hospital while a member of the teaching staff suffered minor injuries.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage within the academic community, with students and faculty voicing strong dissatisfaction over the apparent lack of campus security. Many are calling for urgent improvements to ensure the safety of university spaces.
