Hong Kong universities ramp up fraud prevention efforts
Several universities in Hong Kong are taking significant steps to enhance students’ awareness of fraud prevention, reports The Standard. The University of Hong Kong (HKU) has implemented a mandatory questionnaire, requiring completion before 10 February for library access. This questionnaire features 35 multiple-choice questions, including scenarios to assess students’ ability to identify suspicious individuals and rank the results of Scameter searches based on their level of suspicion.
Recent reports indicate that over 60 HKU students have fallen victim to scams in recent months, totalling losses exceeding HK$60 million (US$7.7 million), primarily affecting mainland students.
