HE rule change encourages youth to train as army reservists

Hungary’s Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky said higher education admission rules have been changed to incentivise young people to train as army reservists, reports About Hungary.

The minister noted that six months of continuous voluntary training will add 16 admission points to the 32-64 points that can be received for basic training. Also, the new rules make it simpler for young people to plan to combine service in the reserves with their studies.

Minister Szalay-Bobrovniczky said that thanks to a recruitment campaign in June-October, more than 3,600 people have joined the Hungarian reserves, the most to have joined the army since it opened up to volunteers.
