New guidelines published to support international students

In partnership with key stakeholders, the Higher Education Council (HEC) of Rwanda developed comprehensive guidelines for the effective management of international students, writes Fidele Nsengiyumva for The New Times.

According to Rose Mukankomeje, the director general of the Higher Education Council, the new guidelines were introduced to better support international students wishing to pursue their studies in Rwanda.

Under the newly developed guidelines, all higher learning institutions must establish a dedicated focal office for international students. This office will have clearly defined responsibilities aimed at enhancing the support provided to foreign students throughout their educational journey. To be enrolled, each higher learning institution must ensure that prospective international students demonstrate sufficient financial capacity to cover all costs associated with their studies. This includes tuition fees, accommodation, healthcare and other living expenses.
