Foundation university tuition fees increase by 100-300%

As education costs in Türkiye have been continuing to rise, annual tuition fees for foundation universities and private high schools have surpassed TRY1 million (US$30,350) for the 2024-25 academic year, reports Duvar English.

After the university entrance exam results were announced, millions of students will make their university selections between 25 July and 2 August. Foundation university fees, which do not include meals, accommodation or transportation costs, have seen massive increases ranging from 100% to 300%.

Istanbul’s Koc University, one of the highest-ranking universities in the country, has set its fees for new students for the 2024-25 academic year at TRY1.075 million (US$32,600) for programmes other than medicine. Last year, the fees were announced at TRY530,000, resulting in a 103% increase within a year.
