PM calls on universities to fight brain drain among youth
Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ highlighted the crucial role of universities in addressing the issue of brain drain among Nepali youth and creating an environment that encourages them to stay in the country, reports Khabarhub.Speaking at the 39th meeting of the Purbanchal University Assembly, Dahal expressed concern over the growing trend of youth seeking opportunities abroad and emphasised the need to reverse this trend. Dahal directed authorities to develop curricula and academic programmes that cater to the aspirations and needs of 21st-century youth. He stressed the importance of universities in providing practical employment opportunities and entrepreneurial skills to students.
“The government is committed to resolving policy and legal obstacles and coordinating efforts among federal, provincial and local governments,” Dahal stated, highlighting the government’s support in revising laws to facilitate these initiatives.
