Ministry to establish female university dormitories

Female dormitories and nurseries will be established in universities throughout Cambodia under a government project to facilitate studies for female students, writes Torn Vibol for Khmer Times.

Ministry of Education spokesman Ros Soveacha said that the ministry would work with stakeholders to build the female dormitories and increase the number of nurseries at public universities. Soveacha did not give a timeframe for the project but said that officials are working to implement it.

He was commenting on Prime Minister Hun Sen’s remarks at the Western University graduation ceremony about female student populations at universities declining. Hun Sen said efforts should be made to enable female students to pursue tertiary education.
