Tuition fees for public universities to be scrapped

The Kosovo government has scrapped tuition fees in public universities. Starting from 1 October this year, students will attend universities free of charge, reports Exit News.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti announced his government’s decision on 17 September, stating that education is “a universal human right and should be accessible to all”.

The decision will apply to bachelor and masters degrees. While doctoral students are excluded from this decision, Kurti said they will receive other benefits. Kurti added that this decision will increase students’ interest in education, and will contribute to social equality.
