Private school graduates show poorer job prospects – Survey
Job prospects for fresh graduates from private education institutions in Singapore continue to lag behind those of their peers from autonomous universities, the results of the latest graduate employment survey released on 13 April showed, writes Malavika Menon for The Straits Times.Released by SkillsFuture Singapore, the survey findings focused on the employment outcomes of about 2,500 graduates across 30 private education institutions who currently hold jobs or are actively looking for one after graduating between May 2019 and April 2020.
The survey found that about 81% of economically active graduates from private education institutions were employed within six months of their final examinations. The figure was about 94% for those from the autonomous universities such as National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore Management University and Singapore University of Social Sciences.
