Federal government approves 20 new private universities

Nigeria’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the establishment of 20 private universities across the country, writes Bolaji Ogundele for The Nation.

The minister of education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, disclosed this to State House correspondents after a recent virtual FEC meeting, presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, at the State House in Abuja.

According to Adamu, the approved universities would get their provisional licences from the National Universities Commission, which they will use for the next three years while monitoring and evaluation will go on.
