World Bank to grant US$100m to upgrade universities

The World Bank is set to grant Belarus US$100 million to upgrade universities with a special focus on science and engineering, reports BelTA.

“We hope that the upgrade project will be submitted for scrutiny to our council in the spring or summer next year. The project provides for granting about US$100 million to upgrade universities with a special focus on science, engineering disciplines, physics and chemistry,” World Bank Country Manager for Belarus Alex Kremer said.

The project is designed to help Belarus develop learning aids in compliance with the standards and requirements of the Bologna system and to help the country establish an independent quality management system based on the principles and values of the Bologna Process.
