Italian universities condemn Turkish attacks
The academic senate of the Polytechnic of Turin and the academic senate of the University of Turin in Italy passed a motion on the situation in the north-east of Syria, expressing full solidarity with the people of Kurdistan, currently the subject of a campaign military invasion, initiated by the Turkish government in violation of international law, reports ANF.The academic senates “demanded the Italian government: to strongly [push] the Turkish government for the immediate cessation of hostilities; to interrupt any activity that may facilitate the war action, in particular the sale to the Turkish government of weapons systems or support for their use; to promote the necessary actions to restore the right to NATO and the European Community international”.
The senates also stated that they “want to respond, specifically, to the appeal for solidarity from the universities of Kobane and Rojava to the international academic community, refusing to be silent and indifferent observers of the question”. To this end they will “promote this appeal at Italian and foreign universities”.
