Party calls for end to university rankings' boycott
The Democratic Action Party has said the government needed to put a stop to two public universities boycotting the Times Higher Education, or THE, World University Rankings, in which no Malaysian university has made it to the top 400 for the fifth straight year, reports The Malaysian Insider.The party's parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang said Universiti Malaya and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia offered no good reason for refusing to participate in the latest global university rankings exercise. The universities defended their move to snub the THE rankings, citing the use of indicators that were not suitable for Malaysian universities younger than their Western counterparts.
