Top university signs agreement with Airbus Defence

University Cheikh Anta Diop of Dakar, or UCAD, and Airbus Defence and Space have signed an agreement in the fields of health, research and industry, reported Le Soleil of Dakar.

UCAD Rector Professor Saliou Ndiaye said the partnership would contribute to developing students’ technical and managerial skills.

“We must prioritise innovation, for we have many challenges to overcome, such as creating courses that will lead to employment, raising educational standards, expansion of regional universities and improvement in quality of our education,” he said.

Airbus representative Ghislain de la Sayette said the company was ready to support technical education in universities and training schools.

“Airbus has already carried out this kind of collaboration in Benin. But we are certain we will find in Senegal all the required skills that will achieve our objectives. Space can contribute to the development of a country and contribute to the wellbeing of its population,” he said.
