IRAN: No probe into university attack
Jamshid Ansari, member of the minority faction of Iran's parliament, has announced that despite previous claims, parliament has not initiated a probe into the attack last June on a university dorm of Tehran University, reports Radio Zamaneh. The Iranian Labour News Agency reported that in a debate at Tehran University, Ansari responded to a question from the students saying: "You should not expect any report from parliament regarding this matter because no committee has been assigned to this task, neither by the speaker nor by the parliament."
Earlier parliament had announced that a committee headed by Mohammad Hossein Aboutorabifard was investigating the attack on the university dorm. On 15 June 15 2009, a few days after the controversial victory of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in presidential elections, special forces and security personnel in plain clothes entered the university campus and subjected students to severe beatings.
