Universities commission orders staff audit of universities

The National Universities Commission of Nigeria has ordered an audit of academic and non-academic staff of federal universities in the country, writes Deborah Tolu-Kolawole for Punch.

A letter signed by the acting executive secretary of the commission, Chris Maiyaki, dated 14 September 2023 and addressed to all vice-chancellors, noted that the order followed a permission granted by Minister of Education Professor Tahir Mamman.

The message read: “The National Universities Commission has briefed the Honourable Minister of Education on the need for a manpower audit, preparatory to a well-informed manpower planning befitting the exponential expansion being experienced in the Nigerian university system.”
