Jordan looks to international rankings to improve universities

Jordan is placing more emphasis on international rankings as a way of encouraging universities to improve in key measures of educational quality, writes Amr El-Tohamy for Al-Fanar Media.

The commission that oversees higher education quality in Jordan recently signed agreements with two British organisations that publish rankings of universities worldwide, to enhance cooperation in verifying data when Jordanian universities participate in international rankings.

The British organisations are Times Higher Education World University Rankings, published by Times Higher Education magazine, and QS World University Rankings, published by the company Quacquarelli Symonds.
