Latest military airstrike hits Tigray university

University officials say the latest airstrike by Ethiopia’s military has hit a university in the capital of the defiant Tigray region and caused major damage, reports Associated Press.

A senior official at the university described the airstrike in an email shared with the Associated Press. It was not immediately clear if anyone was killed or wounded in the airstrike in Mekele on Thursday 19 November, local time. In the email the official asked
“How on earth” can a government bombard its own people? The official has not been named as they could not be reached directly.

There was no immediate comment from Ethiopia’s government, which has been fighting the Tigray regional forces since a 4 November attack on a military base there.
