When universities reopen, most students will still be online

A maximum of 20% of students and employees at universities, colleges and vocational institutions will be allowed to be on site when Dutch tertiary institutions reopen on 15 June, the associations for universities of applied sciences and universities have announced, writes Janene Pieters for NL Times.

The higher education institutions will follow a different protocol until 1 September, to prevent public transit becoming too crowded. On-site education will only take place outside rush hour, between 11am and 3pm, and after 8pm.

The arrangement means 80% of students will have to continue their classes remotely, to avoid an excessive concentration of staff and students in the buildings. The exact distribution will be determined per education institution.
