Green Campus set to bloom at universities

To introduce the concept of a ‘Green Campus’ in Pakistani universities, the Higher Education Commission organised a consultative meeting of a working group of 15 universities to deliberate on Universitas Indonesia’s UI GreenMetric World University Rankings on World Environment Day on 5 June, reports The News.

The consultative meeting was held to draw the attention of the country’s higher education institutions to their policies and direction in relation to efforts to combat global climate change. Higher Education Commission (HEC) Executive Director Dr Arshad Ali chaired the workshop.

Ali said he appreciated the concept of the Universitas Indonesia ranking, with a focus on sustainability at campuses and stressed the need for adopting the concept in Pakistani higher education institutions. He said the HEC would set up a Green Office, the main coordinating unit that would coordinate with the higher education institutions of Pakistan.
