Muslim universities urged to play peacemaker role
The leadership of the International Islamic University in Islamabad has called upon universities of the Muslim world to play their due role in the dissemination of peace and moderation, writes Jardine Malado for The News.This was said by the rector and president of International Islamic University, Islamabad, or IIUI, in their speeches at an ‘Iftar’ dinner titled ‘Moderation and Ramazan’ organised by the Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue at Faisal Masjid Campus.
IIUI Rector Dr Masoom Yasinzai said that the Muslim world’s universities must take the responsibility of nurturing youth and preparing them as ambassadors of peace. He discussed the importance of dialogue. IIUI President Dr Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh said brotherhood, peace and harmony are the base of Islamic civilisation and Islam spreads message of peace and harmony for the entire world and “it’s our responsibility to disseminate this message across the globe”.
