ACE seeks postgraduate scholarship applications
The African Centre of Excellence in Phytochemicals, Textile and Renewable Energy (ACEII-PTRE), hosted by Moi University in Kenya, is seeking applications for scholarships to its masters and doctoral programmes. From April, the centre will be offering doctoral programmes in analytical chemistry, materials and textile engineering, and an MSc in analytical chemistry.
While doctoral programmes will be offered over a period of 36 months, MSc studies will take 24 months to complete, said a notice posted by the university.
Candidates enrolling for a PhD must have a masters degree in a related field, and meet other qualifications for doctorate studies as set by the institution, while those applying for the MSc programme must have a minimum of second class upper division or its equivalent in a bachelor degree.
Applicants for both levels of study must also have a research concept paper in their intended area of study, and produce evidence of enrolling in the programmes in their home countries, to qualify for bursaries.
With full scholarships being limited, applicants from the East African region, females, disadvantaged, marginalised groups and those living with disabilities are particularly encouraged to apply and will be prioritised, said the university.
The deadline for applications is 7 March, ahead of the term starting in April. – Compiled by Maina Waruru
