More pursuing masters degrees to gain job-market edgeThe Star.
There has been a 14.8% increase in students earning masters degrees in various fields between 2014 and 2015, based on data from the Higher Education Ministry. In 2014, a total of 16,748 students graduated with a masters degree. The number then rose to 19,229 the next year.
At first glance, this trend appears to augur well with a recent survey which found that nine out of 10 employers plan to hire someone with a Master of Business Administration or MBA. About 86% of companies around the world had such plans this year, up from 79% last year, says the survey conducted by the Graduate Management Admission Council, a global, non-profit association of 220 leading graduate business schools.
