University entry change unlikely despite concerns

University entrance requirements are unlikely to change despite a review that found widespread concern over first-year students' literacy and numeracy abilities, writes Adele Redmond for Stuff.

In a review of University Entrance, the New Zealand Qualifications Authority said tertiary providers found students entering a wide range of degrees lacked the skills necessary for success, but believed raising the bar was unlikely to help.

Numeracy requirements, considered less crucial for humanities students, would remain the same.
