British universities explore local campus opportunities

A few universities from Britain are keen to set up local campuses in Malaysia following their interest in the potential of higher education, reports Bernama.

British High Commissioner to Malaysia Vicki Treadell said currently there were five universities with campuses in Malaysia, namely Heriot-Watt University (in Putrajaya), University of Nottingham (in Semenyih, Selangor), and Newcastle University, University of Southampton and University of Reading, all three located in Educity@Iskandar.

"There are a couple of universities that are scooping the opportunity to set up their campuses [in Malaysia]… We hope at least another one or two universities will set up their campuses here during my tenure," she told reporters after the inauguration and official opening of the University of Reading Malaysia campus at Educity@Iskandar last week.
