Vietnamese and Italian universities seek partnerships

A conference held in Rome, Italy, on 9 April for Vietnamese and Italian universities to explore opportunities for partnerships was attended by representatives from 30 leading universities, reports Vietnam News Agency.

The conference was organised by the Italian ministries of Foreign Affairs and of Education, Universities and Research, and the Vietnamese Embassy in Italy. Addressing the event, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy Nguyen Hoang Long, who once pursued tertiary study in Italy, said education cooperation is among the priorities in the Vietnam-Italy strategic partnership.

According to the deputy director of the International Cooperation Department under the Ministry of Education and Training, Nguyen Thi Thanh Minh, Italy is a potential education partner of Vietnam, especially in social, cultural and technology studies.

Meanwhile, Italian government representatives assured that more favourable conditions will be rolled out for Vietnamese students. About 1,000 Vietnamese students are currently studying in universities across the European country and Vietnam and Italy have so far cooperated in 72 education projects.
