Universities’ body to create portal for jobless PhDs

The National Universities Commission will establish a portal for PhD holders in order to facilitate their engagement in the Nigerian university system, reports the News Agency of Nigeria.

National Universities Commission Executive Secretary Professor Julius Okojie said at a recent interactive dinner with newsmen in Abuja that it was worrisome that PhD holders were unemployed when their services were needed in the universities. According to him, many PhD holders visit his office looking for jobs, hence the need for a portal where their data would be uploaded for easy access to any university that may need their services.

He said that the nine newly approved private universities had been directed to institute a credible staff enrolment programme.
