‘Research trade’ flourishes over the internet

Social media platforms are crammed with thousands of advertisements in which the advertisers – Saudis and expatriates – offer to carry out research for university students, reports the Saudi Gazette.

They specify prices in their adverts that do not vary much as they are aligned to market rates. The trade is booming and those working in this field make a lot of money. The research trade in the Kingdom reaches millions of riyals or even tens of millions in volume, Al-Hayat daily said.

The majority of those active in this trade are unemployed university graduates, especially young women, one of whom mentioned that her monthly income from the sale of research to female university students exceeds the income of a female teacher who spent 10 years teaching.
