Researchers perform above the UK average – Report

Researchers in Wales are performing above the UK average and productivity is better than most countries of a similar size, according to a new report published last week, reports Wales Online.

An independent study into the comparative performance of Wales’ research base found the nation was efficient in translating its relatively low level of research income into high impact research.

It said that although Wales publishes a relatively small volume of publications, it has increased its proportion of field-weighted citations – which give papers scholarly authority – to 61% above the world average.
