Academics endorse Delhi University's four-year degree

With just days left before Delhi University's admission process begins, over 80 academics last Sunday issued a statement in support of the new four-year undergraduate programme and said detractors were spreading false and misguided propaganda, reports The Press Trust of India.

In the statement issued by the university registrar, the academics said a handful of "misguided individuals" from within and outside the university were trying to derail the process of introducing the new structure.

The academics, some of whom also addressed a press conference, said the university had scrupulously followed all rules and regulations in the processes for change. "This well thought out exercise has been the culmination of extraordinary efforts of a very large segment of the university's community."
