Chevron forges links with universities
The faculty of sciences at Agostinho Neto University in Luanda and the Chevron-Cabinda Gulf Oil Company have signed a memorandum of understanding to expand the university’s studies in Earth sciences.In terms of the programme agreed to between faculty Dean João Francisco Gaspar da Silva and Chevron’s Director of Operations Brian Burke, seminars will be given for students and lecturers in University Agostinho Neto’s geology and geophysics departments, reported Angop, the Angolan Press Agency.
Burke said that through the programme the American oil company aimed to enhance the education of students and new graduates in geosciences, and improve its role as a best-practice company for university students.
He said the memorandum would also strengthen relations between the company and Agostinho Neto University, reported Angop.
Gaspar da Silva said the programme would help graduates find employment more easily.
Angop reported that Chevron had also donated 700 books for agronomy students in the faculty of agrarian sciences at José Eduardo dos Santos University in Huambo.
