France provides scholarships for 90 students

Under a needs-based scholarship programme, the French government will support 90 promising students from six Pakistani universities in the fields of social science, business and architecture, reports The News.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between the French government and the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan in Islamabad on Thursday. The scholarships from France will cover the full costs of promising students pursuing education at Pakistan’s top institutions. The selection process will ensure that at least 25% of the awarded scholarships go to girls, especially those from areas where the access to higher education is difficult.

French Ambassador Philippe Thiébaud termed higher education a key area in the bilateral relationship of both countries. He said that the scholarship grant scheme would further strengthen the close and long-term bilateral friendship between the Pakistani and French governments.
