MALAYSIA: Quality audit of all universities

Higher education institutions in Malaysia are to be audited in August by 10 teams from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency, or MQA, reports the New Straits Times. Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Khaled Nordin said this move was in line with the Ministry's vision and mission to make Malaysia a world class higher education hub.

"There is no such thing as compromise when it concerns our institutes' academic quality," he said last week. Khaled said some 20 public universities and 29 private higher learning institutions had signed up for this year's Malaysian Benchmarking System for Institutions of Higher Learning (Setara) programme. Setara involves a quantitative survey where data collected is analysed according to six areas.
