Going Global 2015: Call for proposals now open

Are you a leader with first-hand experience in working across cultures? Have you got practical ideas or policy suggestions that would drive cutting-edge innovation? Going Global invites you to submit a topic for a bold and creative session at the 2015 conference – the world’s largest open forum for leaders of non-compulsory education.

How do our educational institutions nurture networks of innovation? In particular, in what ways do academic disciplines and subject cultures drive creativity and establish cultural links? How do organisations bridge gaps between different cultures and is there room to push this further? How can we best connect people and ideas across national, regional and local cultures to ensure continuous and effective innovation?

Going Global is the world’s largest open conference for world leading education experts, policy makers and practitioners bought together to debate international education issues and challenges and we are now accepting proposals which consider the above questions to contribute to our 2015 conference in London.

The conference welcomes more than 1,500 delegates from 80 countries. Delegates include university vice-chancellors and presidents, college principals, ministers and government representatives, policy and strategy advisors and media representatives from around the world. This is an opportunity not just to learn from peers in this area, but also to network and forge relationships with this community to foster greater collaboration for the future.

Hosted on 1-2 June in London, Going Global 2015 will draw together these education experts in one of the world's most vibrant and exciting locations. Here, in a rich melting pot of diverse cultures, people and ideas, creative connections are forged that reach across the world, forming global networks of innovation. It is these that will drive and secure the future of individuals, communities and nations. At the core of these connections sit universities and institutions of learning – anchoring and sustaining cultures, building and strengthening relationships.

Do you have first-hand experience in working across cultures globally, nationally or regionally? Have you got practical ideas or policy suggestions that would drive cutting edge innovation across diverse groups? If so, Going Global invites you to submit a topic for a bold and creative session or propose yourself as a speaker or a chairperson.

Going Global 2015 will explore the theme of connecting cultures, forging futures through three key perspectives:
  • • Academic discipline and subject cultures: how connecting different discipline cultures in multi-disciplinary teams produces creativity and innovation, and how connecting the different cultures of research, teaching and skills development produces creativity and innovation.

  • • Organisational cultures: how connecting the different perspectives and cultures of higher education institutions, businesses, skills providers, NGOs, and social enterprises etc leads to creativity and innovation.

  • • National, regional and local cultures: how connecting people and ideas across national, regional and-or local boundaries produces creativity and innovation.
The call for proposals is open until 31 October 2014, and Going Global is looking for suggestions that will facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience through the above conference themes, with an aim of inspiring delegates to implement new ideas. Going Global welcomes unique perspectives, and is particularly interested to hear about practical examples of how you have anticipated and responded to challenges and opportunities in your own work. Successful proposals will link policy and practice, for example, by explaining how specific experiences in the education sector have informed policy developments.
