Eight educational tie-ups announced
India and the US last week announced eight institutional partnership projects for the first Obama-Singh 21st Century Knowledge Initiative awards, in a milestone in the educational ties between the two countries, reports the Press Trust of India.

The eight projects – four each led by either country – will receive an award of approximately $250,000 that can be used over the three-year grant period to encourage mutual understanding, educational reform and economic growth, as well as the development of junior faculty. The goal of the initiative is to further strengthen partnerships between the two nations, through faculty exchanges, joint research and other collaboration.

Announcing the awards during the India-US Higher Education Dialogue, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the two countries have already made a great deal of progress since the dialogue was launched last year.
