MALAYSIA: Call for clarity on blacklisted institutions

The higher education ministry is seeking more information from the Home Ministry on the more than 20 private institutions of higher learning blacklisted for misuse of foreign student passes, reports Bernama.

Deputy Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah said last week that the ministry wanted to know whether the institutions involved were under its purview.

Last week, Abdul Hamid Ahmad, operations sector chief of the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the Immigration Department, said that more than 20 academic institutions had been blacklisted by the Home Ministry after they were found to have misused foreign student passes to bring in foreigners.
