GHANA: Government wants more private universities

Alex Tettey-Enyo, Ghana's Minister of Education, has said the government will encourage the establishment of more accredited private tertiary institutions to increase student enrolment in the West African country, reports GhanaWeb.

He noted that public tertiary institutions-- universities, polytechnics, post-secondary professional training colleges like colleges of education, nurses training colleges, agriculture and forestry colleges - together enrolled less than 50% of school leavers eligible for tertiary education, while private institutions enrolled just about 5%.
