Euroscience is an independent grassroots association of scientists from 40 countries. Membership is open to researchers, science managers, policy-makers, politicians, teachers, PhD students, engineers, business people and citizens in general who are interested in science and technology and its interaction with society.

Scientists from all disciplines are represented in Euroscience, from the humanities to experimental sciences. Members include those who work for the public sector, universities and research centres, and for the private sector. It was founded in 1997 to provide a forum for debate in science and technology, to strengthen the links between science and society, to contribute to the integration of Europe, and to influence in science and technology policies.

The Euroscience Open Forum is a platform to accomplish its mission and reach its goals, a platform for debate and communication in science and technology that is held at a regular biennial meeting. Through its previous meetings in Stockholm, Munich and Barcelona, the forum has proved itself to be one of the most important interdisciplinary forums in Europe.

It is the only place where scientists can learn, network, communicate, participate, meet and talk across disciplines. We would like more scientists, particularly young investigators, to participate in ESOF and also those from other relevant communities - science managers, policy makers, business people, entrepreneurs, innovators, politicians, journalists and communicators, students and public in general.

ESOF 2010 starts in Turin on 2 July 2010. Turin has a long tradition of science and scientific communication to the public. The Science in the City programme will set the city centre in motion with exhibitions, workshops, popular lectures, scientific treasure hunts for kids, music and theatrical performances.

An impressive square in the middle of the city (Piazza Vittorio Veneto) has been reserved for top events and activities will take place mostly in the afternoons and evenings so as not to interfere with the scientific programme. An effort is being made to overcome funding difficulties by attracting many young scientists such as early career researchers, PhD candidates and so on.
