KENYA: Student loans go to the rich

University loans do not benefit deserving students, a minister has claimed. Mwiria was speaking at a Ford Foundation-sponsored African regional meeting on education held in Mombasa. He said less than a third of students in public universities were from public schools and therefore needed support, and called on boards overseeing the disbursement of loans to ensure that the funds reached disadvantaged students.
